Remodelors Council Meeting

This council works to further the education of remodelers, to refine techniques, influence regulatory changes and gain favorable visibility for remodelers. It also coordinates the annual Showcase of Remodeled Homes.

There is an annual fee of $60 to join this council in addition to membership dues.

Building Industry Awards Entries Due

The Building Industry Awards were established in 2005 to honor builders, remodelers, developers, developments, architects, residential designers, landscapers, subcontractors, suppliers, service providers and superintendents for outstanding and extraordinary service in the residential construction industry.

The Building Industry Awards Hall of Fame recognizes members that have an unprecedented history of exceptional service and is the highest honor a member can receive.

A distinguished group of BIA Past Presidents serve as judges for the Building Industry Awards.

Enter to win a very prestigious and marketable award for your company. The Building Industry Awards recognizes member achievements and accomplishments from 2009. There is NO COST to submit entries for this awards program.

More information will be available soon about the 6th Annual Building Industry Awards Presentation & Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 which will be held at the Little Bear Golf Club (1940 Little Bear Loop, Lewis Center, OH 43035).

General Meeting: Profit By Association

With special guest speaker Robert H. Schottenstein of M/I Homes

The annual Profit By Association General Meeting will feature special guest speaker, Robert H. Schottenstein, Chairman of the Board, Chief Executive Officer and President of M/I Homes, Inc., one of the largest homebuilders in the United States. Based in Columbus, M/I Homes also has homebuilding divisions in Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Chicago, Charlotte, Raleigh, Tampa, Orlando, Houston, and the Virginia and Maryland suburbs surrounding Washington, D.C.

From 1977 to 1990, Mr. Schottenstein was engaged in the private practice of law specializing in commercial real estate, corporate and banking transactions. He joined M/I in 1990, was named President in 1996, Chief Executive Officer in 2003, and elected Chairman of the Board in 2004.

Mr. Schottenstein is a member of The Columbus Partnership. In addition to discussing the future of suburban residential housing, he will also talk about Columbus2020!, the new regional economic development initiative lead by The Columbus Partnership.

Columbus2020! is a bold new, regional public-private partnership that will leverage central Ohio’s research and academic institutions and diverse industries to position the state capital to become one of the fastest growing economies in the country and one of the nation’s leaders in economic development.

Builders & Developers Council Meeting

This council handles issues impacting construction and land development in central Ohio. It strives to be interactive with city and state officials in eliminating barriers to affordable housing and the operation of the free market in the acquisition of developable land. It also deals with technical building issues including building codes, inspection problems, and code changes.

This council is geared to the interest of sales and marketing people, and everyone is welcome to join. This mini membership will keep you connected to the BIA, and you will receive a subscription to NAHB's Ideas magazine (a $60 value). SMC coordinates the annual awards program known as MAME (Marketing And Merchandising Excellence) and develops seminars for sales and marketing people.

There is an annual fee of $75 to join this council in addition to membership dues.
