Workforce Development August Meeting

The BIA’s Workforce Committee, co-chaired by Craig Tuckerman (Tuckerman Homes Group) and Ann Misiolek (Parksite) recently met to discuss solutions for how the BIA and its members can be proactive in attracting and retaining workers in the residential construction industry.

“Our Workforce Development Committee had a great meeting last week,” said Misiolek, “With new members joining our effort each meeting we are building a great group.”

In the meeting the committee decided to move forward with a partnership with Eastland-Fairfield Career Center.

Among the ways BIA members can be involved with EFCC are:

  • Having HR personnel participate in mock interviews and resume builder workshops
  • Serving as competition judges for the school’s participation in SKILLS USA contests
  • Donating materials and supplies
  • Serving as guest speakers
  • Participating in job fairs

Please contact Jon Melchi if you are interested in learning more about how you or your company can get involved with EFCC.

The committee will continue to explore marketing opportunities and urges members to continue to post job openings on the BIA’s website.

“We are currently setting our goals for 2020 so let us know how we can help you build your workforce. Better yet join us Sept. 24th at 3pm for our next meeting!” said Misiolek.
