Spike Club Members

New Rules for Earning Local Council Spike Credits

Recent changes approved by the NAHB Membership Committee provide Spike with even more opportunities to earn credits and increase their Spike Club status.  In authorizing these changes the NAHB Membership Committee recognizes that efforts of local Councils in growing their membership promotes member to member recruiting, which is the main purpose of the Spike Club.

Council Recruitment Credits
Spikes can now earn 1/2 recruitment credit for recruiting a new Council member, regardles of when that member joined NAHB.  This is a great opportunity for Spikes to increase their total credits, and for Councils to encourage existing members to become recruiters.  Even more of an incentive, Council recruitment credits are now included in the Spike Party Eligibility requirements.  New for 2007, eligible Spikes must have a minimum of 6 credits and must earn one new member recruitment* credit between January 1 and October 31, 2006 to receive 2 tickets to the Spike Party at the International Builders' Show.

*The new member recruitment credit may be composed of one full credit received when a new Builder or Associate member is recruited, or two 1/2 credits received when new Council members are recruited.

Spikes current as of August 31, 2007

To achieve Spike status, BIA members must earn six credits through recruiting and retaining members within two consecutive years (January 1 - December 31). To retain Spike status and become a Life Spike, you must earn a minimum of one Spike credit (new or retention) each membership year until you reach a total of 25 credits.

The BIA of Central Ohio would like to thank our Spikes for sharing their talent, hard work, perseverance and generosity that make them such extraordinary recruiters and that allow our association to grow and thrive. Greater numbers of members mean a stronger voice within the legislative and political community, a more reliable source of revenue to provide valuable member services, greater purchasing power that we can pass along as savings and discounts to you, and more talent, ideas and expertise to help us achieve our association goals.

Thinking about becoming a Spike? In addition to November being Spike Appreciation month, Spikes receive many ongoing rewards and benefits. They enjoy the prestige of their distinguished Spike status, and through their efforts to recruit new members, they increase their business contacts and networking opportunities. They also gain visibility and recognition among their industry peers, and earn exclusive awards such as lapel pins, plaques, jackets and sweaters.

Thank you, Spikes, for strengthening the BIA!
