The BIA membership consists of single and multiple family homebuilders, developers, remodelers, subcontractors, suppliers and service professionals doing business in the central Ohio area.

Founded in 1943, the BIA is a tax exempt and incorporated Trade Association affiliated with the Ohio Home Builders Association (OHBA) and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).

The primary services of the BIA include legislative and regulatory representation, development of favorable public perceptions of the industry, promotion of business standards and support of homeownership.

The Top Ten Reasons To Join The BIA

10.  Builder Supplies
Foundation blueprints, building permit forms and sales contracts such as Construction on Owner's Lot, Construction on Builder's Lot, and Construction Where Home Is Substantially Complete, designed exclusively for members and bearing our trademark. The Homeowners' Manual is the handbook for BIA Builders and Remodelers. Defines quality standards for workmanship and the BIA grievance procedure.

6.   Member Events
General Meetings, Awards Programs and more. Three annual golf outings allow members an opportunity to have a day of fun and network with other BIA Builder and Associate Members and guests. The Membership Golf Outing takes place in May, the BIA Golf Classic takes place in August, and the Profit By A$$ociation Golf Outing takes place in October.  Networking Night is a fun-filled theme-party event in February where Associate Members can display their products and services to Builder Members. An event all Associate Members should attend as well.  Every BIA member who has joined in the past year and a half is invited to attend the New Member Mixers. These popular social gatherings are held every quarter in order for new members to meet each other and the BIA Board of Trustees while enjoying food and drinks.

5.   Home Shows
Parade of Homes - A 16-day Premiere Home Show in June attracts large consumer and industry interest. Our Preview Party is the single largest attended BIA event of the year. This event allows you to view as many as 21 beautiful homes with diverse architecture and craftsmanship that our industry demands and our Builders exemplify.
CondoQuest - This 9-day scattered site event showcases new condominiums, townhouses, patio homes and cluster housing throughout central Ohio. The BIA holds both a Spring and a Fall CondoQuest.
Showcase of Remodeled Homes - Held the first weekend in May, this event features a variety of renovation projects including whole house renovations, room additions, decks and outdoor living areas. This 2-day tour exemplifies the finest in craftsmanship and the latest in design, products and materials.

Membership Dues - Categories & Fees

Builders, remodelers, and companies working in the homebuilding industry in any capacity are eligible to join the Building Industry Association of Central Ohio. By joining the BIA of Central Ohio, your company automatically becomes a member of the Ohio Home Builders Association (OHBA) and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) as well.

The membership dues accounting system follows a calendar year. Your first year of membership will run from the approval date of your application by the BIA's Board of Trustees through the following twelve months. A one-time initiation fee of $60 must accompany your payment for your first year's dues.

Builders, Developers & Remodelers

Includes single-family builders, multi-family builders, remodelers, general contractors, land developers. Compliance with the BIA Professional Standards and Code of Ethics is a condition of membership. Builders’ dues are based upon gross dollar volume of sales for proceeding year:

Associates

Any individual who is engaged in, or employed by a firm or corporation engaged in a trade, industry, or profession related to the building industry and does not qualify as a builder member.  Both builder and associate memberships may be held by one person, providing the person qualifies in each category and meets all obligations of membership.

Optional Councils
Two councils of the BIA are open to any BIA member and require additional dues.  If you care to participate in either, please fill out the appropriate application and send it to the BIA office.

Remodelers Council  

Responsible for meeting the needs of the professional remodeler, providing educational opportunities, enhancing the image of the industry and equipping remodelers to be more effective in the marketplace.

Dues are $60.00 in addition to BIA membership dues.

Sales & Marketing Council
Enhances the marketing skills of home sales people, help stimulate the sale of new homes, and provides recognition for the part these people play in the industry.

Dues are $75.00 in addition to BIA membership dues.

The Building Industry Association of Central Ohio represents single and multiple family home builders, developers and remodelers in the area. Other members include subcontractors, suppliers and service professionals. Founded in 1943, its primary services include legislative and regulatory representation, development of favorable public perceptions of the industry, promotion of business standards, and support of home ownership.
