committees and councils! Below is a brief description of each group. If

Associates Council
Meets the
second Thursday of each month at 8:15 am at the BIA office.
This council serves as a focal point for communication between the
Associate and Builder members. It also provides Associate members input
in planning major BIA events and stimulates Associate members
participation in the BIA.

Build Political Action
Committee (PAC)
To support candidates for public office who understand the need for
economic growth and who support housing at all economic levels.
Building Council Meets the first Thursday of each month at 3 pm at the BIA office.
This council aims to help equip Builders to more efficiently face the
current market, to inform and react to influences affecting the
industry, and to enhance the professionalism of Builders. Deals with
technical building issues including building codes and interpretation
concerns, inspection problems, and code changes. Tries to influence code
change and promote code consistency.

Developers Council
Meets the first Wednesday of each month at 3:30 pm at the BIA office.
Handles issues impacting land development in central Ohio. It strives to
be interactive with city and state officials in eliminating barriers to
affordable housing and the operation of the free market in the
acquisition of developable land.
Education Committee
Meets the third Monday of each month at 11:30 am at the BIA office.
Coordinates the educational programming offered by BIA committees and
councils, both in the scheduling of times and the integration of topics.
Creates educational programming not offered by other BIA committees and
councils which will aid members and their delegates in the participation
of the building industry. The committee also strives to provide the
community with educational programs of value on the industry.

Membership Committee
Meets the second Wednesday of each month at 3:30 pm at the BIA office.
This committee is structured to help expand the BIA ranks, increase the
rate of retention of existing members, and create a greater awareness of
the benefits of membership and involvement in the Association.

Builders Committee
Designed for builders with less
than 15 years experience, however all BIA Builder and Developer Members are welcome to join. NGB conducts two Lot Exchanges each year (Spring & Fall) as well as social and

Standards Committee
(Members of this Committee are by appointment only) - To encourage
quality construction and good customer service among members, to
demonstrate the ability to act as a self-policing agency, and to help
develop favorable perceptions of home builders.

Registered Builder
Committee
Meets the third Wednesday of every other month at 12 noon at the BIA office.
(January, March, May, July, September, November)
(Members of this Committee are by appointment only) - To ensure the BIA
member builders meet and maintain eligibility requirements for
participation in the Registered Builder Program. To oversee promotion of
the program to encourage builders to participate and home buyers to
understand the benefit of using a Registered Builder.

Remodelors Policy
Council
Meets
the first Tuesday of each month at 3 pm at the BIA office.
(Annual fee of $60 to join this Council) - This council works to
further the education of Remodelers to refine techniques, keep abreast
of and influence regulatory changes, and gain favorable visibility for
Remodelers. Also sponsors the Showcase of Remodeled Homes. Remodelors Council Form

Policy Council
Meets the first Tuesday of each month at 11:30 am at the BIA office.
(Annual fee of $75 to join this Council) - This council is geared
to the interest of sales and marketing people involved in the sale of
new housing. It has developed an awards program known as
MAME (Marketing
And Merchandising Excellence), and develops seminars for sales and

The Building Industry Association of
Central Ohio represents single and multiple family home builders,
developers and remodelers in the area. Other members include
subcontractors, suppliers and service professionals. Founded in
1943, its primary services include legislative and regulatory
representation, development of favorable public perceptions of the
industry, promotion of business standards, and support of home
ownership. The BIA is the annual sponsor of the Parade of Homes,
CondoQuest, and the Showcase of Remodeled Homes.
